Endpoint Film- Rape Scene

from Flash Sound Design by Joey Flash

/

about

This is merely a scene leading up to a rape, there was no assault visually.

A character had been admiring a neighbor through the window, he was convinced by a friend to call her. During the call the friend rushes across the street in a sociopathic lapse (characterized by intense heart beating, a high tone from an oscillator and him sprinting down a hallway). He attacks the neighbor, our nervous character hears this on the phone and makes his way across the street to the apartment.

This scene was also completely replaced except for dialog. EQ was automated to demonstrate camera changes coordinated with characters talking over the phone in different apartments and noises being heard through a window from the street outside. To amplify how emotional and tense the situation is, I added elements such as a slow heartbeat to define the nervous character peaking through binoculars and tones/ sound design elements that layered as the scene progressed to add an eerie creepyness and create a rise in tension that eventually climaxes.
